What is Infertility?
A healthy couple living together for almost a year, having regular unprotected copulation with an aim of conception and not able to conceive need to be evaluated by fertility specialists doctors. The infertility may be primary and secondary.

As per Johns Hopkins Medicine Fertility center "Primary infertility is defined as a couple who has never been pregnant.  Secondary infertility describes a couple who are having trouble conceiving again, even though they have previously achieved pregnancy."

Some  noteworthy facts have come to light in a study conducted by Ulla Larsen associated with Department of Population and International Health, Harvard School of Public Health, 665 Huntington Ave, Boston,USA and published in International Journal of epidemiology

about primary and secondary infertility in sub saharan Africa.

"Primary infertility is relatively low and it exceeds 3% in less than a third of the 28 African countries analysed. In contrast, elevated levels of secondary infertility prevail in most countries. Secondary infertility for women age 20–44 ranges from 5% in Togo to 23% in Central African Republic." This study documented that infections, either from a sexually transmitted disease (STD), after a childbirth, or an abortion, were the major causes of infertility in sub-Saharan Africa.
Another factor that could be responsible for female factor infertility is Uterine fibroid.
As per American Journal of reproductive Medicine Fact Sheet:
"Fibroids are noted in 20% of women in the reproductive years, but those of African descent have been shown to have a higher incidence of fibroid formations (50-80%). Whether fibroids cause symptoms or require any type of treatment depends on their location and size in the uterus. Fibroids occur when a single muscle cell in the wall of the uterus multiplies to form a noncancerous tumor. The exact cause of uterine fibroids is unclear, but there is evidence that it may be a combination of genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors."
According to this Fact sheet, Certain types of fibroids are known to decrease fertility. They include fibroids that are inside the uterine cavity and very large fibroids (>6 cm in diameter) that are located within the wall of the uterus. A specialist doctor can assess if the uterine fibroid is causing infertility problem after evaluation of both the partners.
If uterine fibroids are the cause of infertility, patient is advised for a surgery called myomectomy for removal of fibroid. A patient is advised to not conceive atleast within six months of myomectomy surgery as endometrial lining of uterus have to recover for maintaining  and sustaining the pregnancy.
As in the cases of treatment of secondary infertility the cause of infection needs to be treated first, sometimes pre work up of infertility treatment is more time consuming than the actual treatment.Same holds true post myomectomy .As Infertility treatment may span for more than one monthly cycle ,the cost of staying in India and being absent from their work for too long a period also becomes a major hindrance for global guests to seek infertility treatment in India. We at CMCS HEALTH co ordinate the entire treatment process for our Global guests ,even when patient is staying in their own country and invite them to India only when the treating doctor feels that now is the time for patient to undergo assisted conception procedure, thereby shortening the India stay required for global guests.

Treatment of Infertility: Before the commencement of treatment for infertility a comprehensive work up is to be done for both the partners for knowing the cause of infertility and accordingly the treatment options are decided by specialists doctors for a better outcome.
